Udaan had been in the news since it was first screened at the Cannes film festival and reportedly it got the standing ovation from everyone who saw it Cannes. However, back here in India where it matters the most it has not got the desired results as it has been labeled as not a extraordinary film and just another work of offbeat cinema.

Rohan, played by talented Rajat Barmecha, is an 'average' kid, rebellious and dreamer. He is been expelled from the school and has a Hitler kind of father who runs a small steel plant at Jamshedpur. An immensely strict father Rohan to be an engineer and enjoys defeating him in running where Rohan wants to find happiness while composing poetry spend time on the railway tracks.

The story moves around Rohan poised him as the central character and those who had the troubled childhood would be able to connect with the film. TCS Q1 Results Shows 24.25% Jump - Check Complete Details

India's largest software solutions provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday reported a 24.25 per cent jump in its June quarter profit at Rs 1,906.07 crore.

The company said it will hire as many as 40,000 new hands this year because of increasing business and also to take care of high attrition rates. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) added a net strength of 3,271 employees during the first quarter this year, raising the total number of its staff to 163,700.

" We continue to focus on retention and providing an enriching employee experience," said Ajoy Mukherjee, vice president, head, global human resources.

" Our attrition has gone up this quarter but we have done a good job of retaining key performers," N. Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD), TCS said.

Employee attrition was 13.1 per cent in the quarter.

The firm also announced that it would to raise salaries by an average 13 per cent starting this month.

" This has been a quarter of complete outperformance.

While we remain alert about changing macro dynamics in many markets, our customer- centric business model is very relevant and helps us participate in the ongoing recovery," Chandrasekaran said.

During the quarter, the company saw growth across service lines, including IT, BPO, infrastructure services and assurance. North America and Asia were among the primary drivers of growth.

Among the major deals bagged during the quarter by TCS include a contract worth Rs 250 crore to implement a programme for a state- run utility, while another contract worth $ 100 million was bagged to provide IT solutions to a large media firm. Chandrasekaran said the company is following at least 15 more large deals.

Income from operations rose to Rs 8,217.28 crore in the first quarter of this year from Rs 7,206.99 crore in the year- ago period.

The company has already declared an interim dividend of Rs 2 per equity share of Re 1 each.

Tere Bin Laden Review, Ratings and Audience Response

Tere Bin Laden is a fun flick almost shocked everybody via promos of the film in which the actor who plays Noora, a poultry farmer in the film looks exactly as Osama Bin Laden.

Even the idea would make you laugh, just try to imagine that the dangerous Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11 World Trade Center is speaking in Punjabi, driving the truck and playing hand grenades like tennis ball.


It is the story of an ambitious young reporter, Ali Hasan, who wants to migrate to America however denied to migration post 9/11 by US visa officials.

A disappointed, Ali Hasan, then finds a quite a innovative cum creative way to make his mark in America. He came across a a poultry farmer named Noora in the film whose looks resembles of Laden, followed by which he convinces the guy, tapes his speech, produces a fake Osama video and sells it to news channels as a scoop to make his way to America.

The Movie is already craeting the sparks even before releasing as it has been banned in many parts of the world, including Pakistan and Gulf. Even the Walkwater Media, producer of the film, has received threats in the shape of an anonymous letter, threatening them with dire consequences if they release the film. Officials are not releasing the movie in US as of now.

It is believed that the Pakistani censor board decided to ban the film two days before release on grounds that Islamic extremists could use the screening of the film as a pretext for violence. The film is a satire featuring a lookalike of Al Qaida leader Osama bin Laden as a central character.

If we speak about the music, soundtrack name 'Ullu da pattha' composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is already a hit.

Amidst of all that serious cinema and repeated boring comedy of Hera-Pheri type, this new idea of debutant Abhishek Sharma who dared to bring out the lighter side of Laden image is a must see.

Saina Nehwal is at career high as acheives No. 2 ranking

Saina Nehwal has reached the pinnacle of her badminton career. The 20- year- old player on Thursday became the world No. 2 in the latest rankings issued by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

With 64791.26 points, the Hyderabadi is now ranked next only to Chinese Wang Yihan (74308.91) points.

Speaking Media, Saina said, " I want to make one thing clear: I was ranked sixth for a major part of the year. Then I became No. 3 and now No. 2. That is all fine. But my real focus is winning the major tournaments." She once again repeated that the World Championships was her main target. " That is without a doubt my biggest challenge.

Last year, I had just recovered from a bout of chicken pox and was not at my best for the World Championships at Hyderabad.I have to make amends for that now," she said.

Another factor which is to be kept in mind is that with practically no tournament between now and the World Championships, the Indian would go into the world's premier tournament as the second seed. " With no major tournaments between now and the World Championships, Saina is most certainly going to the event as the second seed," said her coach Gopi Chand.

Indian Currency Symbol established as New Indian Rupee Symbol Revealed

The Indian rupee has joined the exclusive club of four global currencies, by getting its own symbol on Thursday. However, this is unlikely to change the way one deals with the currency or the way one refers to it in speech, though it would bring in a change in the way it is put in writing.

However, the high point of the move will come only when the Indian rupee becomes a global currency through which import and export transactions can be clinched. Only the US dollar, Great Britain pound (GBP), European euro and Japanese yen have their own symbols.

M. D. Mallya, chairman and managing director of Bank of Baroda (BoB) said, " It would enable banks to quote currency in the form of a symbol in the international markets (particularly in the foreign exchange market). Besides it could gain recognition globally in due course, reflecting the growing stature of India among global economies." Whether to include the new symbol in the new currency notes series to be released for public consumption from now on, is a million- dollar question. There is talk in the market that its inclusion in the notes format is unlikely to be made mandatory.

Responding to a query, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) spokesperson said, " The apex bank is examining various aspects and implications of the new symbol for rupee." However, many of the central banks like that in the US and the UK have decided against making it mandatory to mention the symbol in the currency notes. But it may not be difficult for RBI to incorporate the symbol in currency notes, if the Centre were to decide so.

RBI has a set procedure for approval of design for different currency notes issued by it, including an approval by a Committee on Financial History. But a communiqué to the effect from ' the Centre may be required for incorporating the new symbol that has a combination of Hindi and Roman scripts. RBI may have to use this symbol liberally in volumes of literature and analysis it produces annually.

" The immediate implication could be change in software and hardware codes in computers to accommodate the new symbol," said K. Unnikrishnan, deputy chief executive officer (CEO) of Indian Banks' Association (IBA).
