Manisha was at her peak during the making of Dil Toh Pagal Hain, having already delivered powerhouse performances in films such as 1942.., Bombay, Khamoshi, Agni Sakshi, Akele Hum Akele Tum etc that were all released much before DTPH. As a comparison, what can we imagine if Karisma Kapoor were to do all these roles? Manisha was working with the best directors and almost all leading men of her time. There is no reason to believe she could'nt have pulled off Nisha's character in DTPH and infact, would've added her own style and nuances to the role.
