Dear Fraternity
I would like to share my view based upon my experience as SAP recruiter...
1. Anyone with 2 - 5yrs of HR Functional exp can migrate to SAP HR. Even people with 5 - 7yrs can do so but folks who fall under this Category will have to forgo there SALARY initially (for 2yrs at least)
Things one need to consider before taking such decision:
1. Good Functional Exp - A person with - Recruitment, Payroll, Comp & Ben, Appraisal, and Statutory - has a fair chance.
2. Certification is NOT ESSENTIAL but good - People often ask me whether to go for certification...Good to have certification BUT IT IS NOT MANDATORY. In fact I have recruited more NON-CERTIFIED consultant for my previous Company than certified.
3. WORD OF CAUTION: For those of u who wanted to do certification. Doing certification means you’re decided to make an investment of 1.5 - 2.5Lac so calculate ur Return On Investment b4 going for one. Eg. says a person with 4yrs of functional exp CTC is 4-5Lac and going for RS.2Lac certification and gets a SAP HR opening with a co. for an 4Lac CTC or for his current CTC..... Otherwise he would have got a hike of 5 - 6L hike in the same stream so he will have to wait for next two yrs minimum to get same hike -ROI. By then HE will have 6yr of total exp out of which 2yrs into SAP (Your salary hike will be based on NO. of SAP Implementations in tat 2yrs).
4. Have A Mentor: Catch hold of a SAP HR professional who can guide and mentor you before and after taking such a career shift. They know the industry trend, demand for SAP HR, Growth, and upcoming version of SAP and so on.....
5. Compatible: Ask this question to you. Whether SAP HR is compatible to ME? Not all of you out there who wanted to make money as SAP HR consultant are technocrat so it is question of whether SAP HR is compatible for you. A Mentor can assist you on this.
6. EXPERIMENT: To check whether you are compatible, do a Crash Course with UNAUTHORISED institutions. This will cost you 10K to 25K compared to a risky fee of 1.5 – 2.5L with institutes like SEIMENS
7. BACKGROUND – A good combination of qualification will increase your chance. A technically degree with HR fictional exp and PG/UG degree in HR will be an added advantage. Though this is not a mandatory..
Guess the above mentioned points could be of some aid to aspiring SAP HR professionals.
